The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is seeking comment through July 13 on hunting seasons for 2009-11.
The department wants to hear from the public on issues ranging from general hunting hours to mule deer seasons. A questionnaire on those issues is posted on the department's website at http://wdfw.wa.gov/wlm/game/seasonsetting/index.htm.
After the comment period, the department will assess recommendations from the public and use them in developing various season alternatives and proposed hunting regulations.
In mid-August, the department will post those alternatives for public comment on its website and kick off a series of public meetings throughout the state.
Meetings are planned Sept. 2 in Wenatchee; Sept. 3 in Spokane Valley; and Sept. 4 in Pasco.

Bear sightings on rise
Sightings of black bears are on the rise with the warmer weather in Washington, and the state wildlife is reminding citizens that human actions are the key to avoiding trouble with a bruin.
Pet food, birdfeeders and unsecured garbage containers all can attract hungry bears looking for an easy meal.
Fish and Wildlife in eastern and central Washington report a high volume of calls.
