Richland girl wins Junior Bassmasters state title

Herald staff

Two-time National Junior Casting kids champion Kiana Clark of Richland reeled in 15.6 pounds of fish at the Junior Bassmasters 2008 Washington State Championship at Pier 4 Sunrise Resort in Moses Lake.

It was enough to earn Clark first place in the 11- to 14-year-old division during the tournament April 19-20 and qualify her for the seven-state Divisional competition on Lake Coeur d’Alene on May 17.

On the second day of the competition, Clark, 13, was partnered with Joey Nania, 17, of Liberty Lake — a lucky partnership for both as each took a turn helping the other net a 41⁄2 -pounder.

Nania, the 2005 Junior Bassmasters champion, took first in the 15- to 18-year-old division with 37.86 pounds. Third place went to the Tri-Cities’ Jake Cook, who totaled 12.72 pounds.
