The importance of keeping Michael Killian as our elected clerk has never been more apparent. The biggest reason is his fiscal responsibility. Franklin County has a clerk that has not had a budget increase in his entire tenure. Killian’s office runs the entire caseload, with 12 clerks, a chief deputy and himself. Benton County has approximately 44 clerks. The Franklin County case load has increased, his collections program is number one in the state and his office deals with the addition of the Coyote Ridge prison inmates being able to file their cases in Franklin County. Passport processing was added to the c lerk’s office during Killian’s incumbency. In 2001 Killian requested and was approved to be a Federal Passport Agent. All revenue stays in the county.
Killian honorably has served in the military, was sent overseas, but has such a well-trained and efficient staff, that the clerk’s office did not miss a beat. Our Franklin County Clerk is so well respected that as a member of the Clerks’ Association, he has been voted in as the vice-president and is working to get filings online across Washington.
Franklin County has a well respected, efficient, ethical clerk right now — Michael Killian.
