I am writing this short letter pertaining to Prop. 14-7. I think it is great that people want to create a County Conservation Fund. I do disagree with the way they want to fund it. I feel that the users should be the ones to pay for it. Remember, it only is used by a small percentage of actual residents. As more people use it, their fund will get larger. I think a simple fee of up to $5 to use the existing trails and parking would provide a lot of funds especially if the supposed number of users are accurate. Also, they can ask businesses to donate funds.
As a property owner who is already paying way too much for the services provided back to me, I am against more property tax increases. My feeling is let the users pay for what they use. If I want to climb Badger Mountain or walk on any of the other trails, then I should be willing to pay a small fee to do so. This would be similar to fees that are required to launch at boat ramps, camp or hike on state lands. U
