I reserve my letter writing to the editor for things in our community that seem truly outrageous. This latest item is so insulting to voters that I dragged out my writing cap and sharpened my pencil.
As I was driving into Pasco, I began to see bright greenish-yellow signs attached to the current sheriff’s re-election signs. These signs tout a “64% reduction in crime.”
All I can think to say is, “Are you kidding me?” Talk about worthless statistics; this one takes the cake. There are no dates for the beginning nor the end of the statistical report period. We don’t know how this number was calculated. We can only guess that it’s a 64 percent reduction in crime in Franklin County — but maybe it’s in another county or state.
I guess we’re supposed to blindly believe a politician’s claim. Now that idea is truly worth a belly laugh.
Voters beware! If a candidate thinks the voters are dumb enough to swallow this, why would we ever vote him back into office? He obviously has no respect for any of us.
