I am perplexed after reading the Herald’s recommendation for Franklin County clerk. The paltry reasoning behind the decision is beyond belief. To indicate that anyone is wrong to risk his/her life to honor a commitment to our country while also providing a valuable service at home, reeks of anti-patriotism.
Michael Killian is completing his 14th year in his position; he is highly regarded by other county clerks throughout the state and has been a contributing member to their association since attaining his office. In addition, if the board sees no reason why local offices should be required to seek positions under a party designation, why does it make a difference when one makes a change? Changing a political party certainly will not alter the way Mr. Killian manages his position and should have no bearing on his management skills.
Having served 19 years in the same office in Benton County, I can attest that Mike has served his county and its citizens faithfully. He has the knowledge and abilities to continue providing outstanding service to the Superior Court and the citizens of Franklin County going forward.
I urge Franklin County residents to maintain excellence, re-elect your incumbent, Michael Killian.
