Vote YES to Proposition 14-7 Wow! For only an average of $12.50/year increase in property tax, Benton County will raise $975,000 annually over the next 10 years to use toward saving our natural resources in Benton County. Passing Proposition 14-7 will create a fund to “buy park land and open space, protect water quality, preserve agricultural land, conserve wildlife habitat and increase outdoor recreation opportunities.” (quote from a recent Tri-City Herald).
A small minority of the population has given time and money resulting in saving many of our open spaces (e.g., buying Badger Mountain and saving it from development, then working to create trails). Let’s all chip in only an average of $12.50/yr and have a community where we can enjoy the great outdoors without having to drive many miles and without having to pay a fee every time we want to recreate in the wonderful outdoors! Future generations will be thankful! We believe it is our moral responsibility!
Vote Yes and encourage the commissioners to create a Conservation Futures Fund in Benton County. When an opportunity is available to save the outdoors, Benton County will be prepared to act!
