What can you buy for only $12 per year? A priceless legacy for your children's children's children.
On the Nov. 4, ballot you'll have the opportunity to vote in favor of Prop. 14-7, advising our commissioners to create the Benton County Conservation Futures Fund. The fund will protect significant county lands, including natural areas, wildlife habitats, recreation areas, and scenic vistas. Authorized by state law in 1971, 13 counties in Washington, including Spokane, have already established the fund. The fund will provide the match needed to help our region compete for state and federal funds, further leveraging our investment.
Open space benefits us all. The mental and physical health benefits of being outdoors is well established and increasingly important in this crazy world. The 200,000 visitors to Badger Mountain last year know this. From the economic benefits of increased tourism and overnight stays to remaining a livable community where businesses want to locate and invest, the Conservation Futures Fund provides one piece to the post-Hanford puzzle.
Help protect our quality of life and access to open space. At just $1 per month for the average household, it's a great investment in our future that will pay dividends for generations.
