Democrats have three choices when it is time to vote for a candidate for Congress from the 4th District to replace Doc Hastings. Since there is no Democrat on the ballot, Democrats can decide not to vote.
Or Democrats can vote for Clint Didier, an extremist who supports Hanford one day but not the next, who will want to pull our troops home from overseas bases and station them along the Mexican border, who will want to withdraw from the U.N. He already has alienated the speaker of the House from his own party. He does not believe in government or democratic processes. Our region is very dependent on state, federal, private and university partnerships to get us where we want to go in the future. An extremist sitting in Congress from our district is not going to be helpful.
Or finally Democrats can vote for Dan Newhouse -- a reasonable candidate with good experience in government and a demonstrated ability to work with others for the good of the region particularly on agricultural issues. Our current Congressman Doc Hastings has endorsed Newhouse.
To me the choice is obvious. Vote for sanity. Vote for Newhouse.
