Would you rather see a sales tax that will create huge amounts of tax revenue that is paid by only a few but benefits all, or would you rather have a sales tax that is paid by all but potentially will benefit only a few? That's the difference between tax from sales of marijuana and the proposed sales tax increase for public safety.
Granted, we all want to be safe. But you can't constantly require everyone to pass a tax when the laws that have already been passed are not being put into place.
I urge everyone to vote no on any increase in sales or property taxes until our "elected" officials stop deciding they are "above the law" and don't have to listen to the voters who put them into office in the first place.
By the way, I voted against the legalization of marijuana. But I do live in America and I now see how it has benefited the coffers in Colorado. Remember all of these city council members who are blocking this change. Vote them out next election.
