Franklin County has an opportunity to elect a highly regarded police professional to the position of sheriff. Jim Raymond is that man.
Law enforcement has become a science. Gone are the days when Andy and Barney knew everyone in town. Today, a well-trained law enforcement staff is required to deter crime.
But what if the people at the top of the department don't work well with other local law enforcement professionals? Networking between departments helps identify criminals, their whereabouts, patterns and potential victims.
Networking is also a safety issue. What happens if one department's radio system doesn't talk to the rest of the systems in our bi-county area?
The results can be tragic for law enforcement officers and the public. That is almost what happened recently because of an antiquated radio system. It very nearly caused an officer injury or fatality. Even after a near miss, our sheriff still doesn't seem to understand the seriousness of this safety issue and push harder for a new central dispatch system.
Please join me in supporting Jim Raymond for Franklin County sheriff -- a true professional with common sense.
