Because actions by the Port of Kennewick will have such a big effect on the future of the Mid-Columbia, I believe voters should pay close attention to the two openings for port commissioner.
My wife and I recently attended a port meeting on Clover Island. There were many fine speakers and lots of questions and comments from the large audience. We were particularly impressed with two candidates who are involved with local government. Those two gentlemen were Tom Moak and Don Barnes.
The Port of Kennewick is getting ready to reshape some large portions in the heart of the city as it redevelops Vista Field, the Bridge to Bridge development and Wine Business Park on Columbia Drive and downtown Kennewick. This will be a job for only the very best.
Meeting and watching these two public servants, our own research, and the desire like many to see Kennewick thrive have convinced my wife and I of this; Tom Moak and Don Barnes would be the two best choices for Port of Kennewick commissioner.
Never miss a local story.
