The last time I mailed a letter to the editor supporting our community getting an indoor aquatic center was for Kennewick's failed bond attempt back when I was 10 or 11.
Since then, a lot has happened. My name's changed, I've traveled quite a few miles, had children and lived on the other side of the country.
Now I'm a Tri-Citian again, and I understand that where I now live tried to upgrade its public aquatic recreation facilities. Apparently, private business was going to build an aquatic park, too. Yet some things haven't changed.
None of our cities has been able to pass bonds to accommodate the public water recreation needs. All private enterprise has done is close the old water park in Kennewick and added small water parks to expensive, private fitness clubs. Let's finally make this happen! A vote for the aquatic complex is a vote to improve our community. It's time for a change that we can all directly benefit from. Vote yes for the aquatic center.
Never miss a local story.
