Has anyone even thought to consider the Syrian refugees’ desires and opinions prior to this argument over whether we should let them come here?
It seems highly likely that most of them would rather stay closer to home, where they could easily return when the Islamic radicals are beaten and the political climate changes. The return trip costs would certainly be prohibitive for most of these displaced casualties of war (who pays for that?). It seems to me that a lot of people are putting the cart before the horse in a typical knee-jerk reaction.
Yes, we as a nation should be concerned for their welfare and safety, but let’s take a long look at the big picture. They are simply trying to survive any way they can, so let’s help them to do that. There are more effective means of helping them than shipping them across the globe!
