Mr. Bensky's last statement (Letters, Aug. 26) "Go ahead tea party, blame Obama," is puzzling to me and I'm sure many others. His letter alluded to a foreign policy issue with the Bush administration concerning Iraq and ISIS.
I have attended many local tea party gatherings in which candidates of both political parties are invited. Unfortunately few, if any, Democrats show up. These gatherings discuss issues that are of concern to the tea party: lower taxes, smaller government, following the Constitution (which both political parties fail to do), and fewer regulations. I can't speak for other tea party groups, but for the most part there is very little, if any, discussion regarding foreign policy. Since the president has no interest in lowering taxes, downsizing the government, following the Constitution and reining in regulations, the tea party puts the blame on him for lack of leadership with these issues.
I'm surprised Bensky didn't include the rant that tea party attendees are "racists," but then, he is limited to 200 words. The tea party concept originated on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange and not some KKK or foreign policy meeting.
