The Country Meadows Estates' pressurized irrigation water has frequently been unavailable from the Kennewick Irrigation District pond to our valves. Homeowners have attended several KID board meetings over the years and some officials have attempted to help our continuing issues. About 2 1/2 years ago Ed Everaert attended a homeowners meeting and informed us we were using more than our irrigation allotment and KID was considering charging us more. After homeowners pointed out pond overflows were a KID maintenance issue, Ed volunteered to have an automated weir gate installed. That worked wonders. Then in mid-2013 the gate failed and we again have intermittent pressurized water.
We have been without water on 10 occasions this year. It's obvious KID does not have the knowledge to maintain an irrigation pond. I suggest they hire an irrigation specialist from Grandview or Sunnyside where ponds are commonplace. Our "water master" (as KID refers to her) recently sent Chuck Freeman, KID District Manager, an email requesting a meeting with four of us to discuss the poor water delivery and Chuck wrote back, "I am not interested in meeting with this group."
After six years and multiple managers, KID seems to have gained little in its obligation to deliver pressurized water to our homeowners.
