I am grateful for a marvelous ecumenical gathering last week to bless the new chapel at a local hospital. Participants represented various faith traditions including Baptist, Buddhist, Catholic, Jewish/Hebrew, Lutheran, Mormon, Muslim and other private beliefs. Each speaker offered fresh, encouraging words of blessing drawn from their rich religious wells. In the humble chapel filled with light and sights of nature, water and stone, they spoke of healing, faith, peace, serenity and hope.
Taken together, they created streams of hope that flow from the source of hope to those who may pause there for reflection, solitude, prayer or inspiration. As evidence by both sides of that hospital hallway, it is apparent that meditation and medication can and do work together for people's good.
Thank you for this quiet but profound moment of real grace. May such streams of hope flow far into the driest places of our world!
