Reading the article on the new public safety tax, I noticed that only four new police officers would be added by June of next year, a total of 12 officers would be added at a later date. There was a push for this tax to pass because of the urgent need for additional officers, public defenders, etc. If there was this urgent need and only four officers will be added within the next year, why the need for .03 percent tax increase? Why not .01 percent and -- when it is needed -- ask for more?
Just a question from a taxpayer that observes public servants blatantly ignoring the law they are supposed to enforce.
