In response to Shelly Hansen's "Workable Peace Plan" (Letters, Aug. 6) I would like to offer the following.
There was no U.N. mistake made in 1947.
The Jewish people were promised a homeland by "international arbitrators" of 1919, 1925 and 1947, so they claimed their promises.
Immediately they were attacked by five Islamic nations vowing to commit genocide against the Israelis, but Israel prevailed.
Israel is a sovereign nation as of May 14, 1948, and from that day forward has endured many wars and conflicts by Islamic states whose sole purpose is to obliterate the Israeli people, who from the beginning welcomed all non-Israelis to stay and live in peace among them.
History informs us there has never been a nationality of "Palestinian" people, only those who migrated to "Palestine" from many countries including the Jewish people.
Today's "Palestinians" are political pawns for the genocidal desires of the Islamic states surrounding the democratic sovereign state of Israel and have no claim to any part of Israel.
If the "Palestinians" recognize the right of Israel to exist they can live in peace among the Israelis and there will be no need for any more bloodshed.
