It's unbelievable to me the obsession people have with their cellphones and smartphones. It used to be, that when you went into a restaurant to eat, that was a time and place to enjoy your food and have a nice conversation. Now, someone complains that the couple next to them is talking too loudly! Of course, it's loud when everyone else is silently thumbing their way to another silent conversation!
I grieve to think of what people in the same family don't know about each other. A fork of food in one hand and texting in the other!
Yes, I'm old, but the stories of family and friends or even someone you happen to meet (if you are talking), can be educational, amusing or sad -- but priceless!
"Bless the beasts and the children." Will any have a chance in this silent world of communication?
Never miss a local story.
