I encourage everyone from young to old to go see the movie America at Carmike Theater. It unveils what is behind the negativity that haunts our nation today and threatens to bring it down. Aside from the political message (which I will have to check out, but suspect it's all very true), it really makes you appreciate our great nation and the history that isn't taught in our history books today.
One of the producers and writers of the film America is Bruce Schooley who grew up in Richland and was my brother's best friend from junior high. He is an outstanding man who is a faithful friend and spoke at my brother's funeral years ago.
Mr. Movie gave America four stars, but complained that the main producer Dinesh D'Souza doesn't answer the question he asks in the film, "Where would the world be today without America?"
After seeing the film, I understand now that he is not answering the question for us. He wants us to answer that question for ourselves. It's a little sad that it takes a foreigner from another nation to convince us how great our nation really is.
