I'm thankful for local performing arts and media outlets like PBS and BYUtv for producing content that is both inspiring and entertaining.
With the bloodthirsty Game of Thrones recently receiving a leading 19 Emmy nominations and extremely violent video game series like Halo, Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed (a far cry from the Duck Hunt of my youth) among the most popular among our youth for years, is it any wonder we regularly have brutal beatings where onlookers cheer and snap photos and videos instead of attempting to help the victim?
With so much media content that is violent, vulgar and immoral, we have to be vigilant to protect our families from these destructive influences that degrade and dull our sensitivities.
Instead, we must seek out that which uplifts and inspires us to be better human beings. Fortunately, there are many in our society who see the value of producing this type of positive entertainment.
