I want to address the NBA and the treatment of Donald Sterling. The commissioner was wrong to ban him from all NBA activities for life and force him to sell his team.
I have listened to the conversation Mr. Sterling had with his mistress and I find nothing appalling about it. The man thinks his mistress should not be flaunting in public with black people. So what?
Not once did I hear him use the N-word. I listened to what was supposed to be a private conversation between two people. Private -- not meant for the public. I am willing to bet that the commissioner has said some things to his mate in private that he would not want the public to hear. I know I have.
No one questions who recorded the tape and why it was released. So Mr. Sterling is a racist. Does being a racist make him not qualified to own his team? Banning him from NBA activities was one thing. Trying to take away his business is another. The commissioner has set precedence by banning Mr. Sterling for racist comments. Will he do the same for players as well?
