I was fascinated by the "Mud and rocks a 'flying" article on July 12 about some of the complaints against candidates for the 4th Congressional District. Estakio Beltran acts like a complete jerk in his campaign ad and expects no one to say anything. His problem is that the Americans for Responsible Solutions did say something and now he goes squealing and whining about someone else' campaign.
I understand that the donkey represents the Democrats, but when a Democrat starts acting like a jackass, other Democrats need to police and reel him in. Since some Democrats want comprehensive gun control, they need not look any further. They need to start with Beltran.
Just to show the double standard, Beltran shoots a stuffed elephant and no one says anything, even the media. Let a Republican shoot a stuffed donkey and it will be headline news for a year. So much, for news outlet objectivity.
The author of the article failed to mention one of the candidates. All the candidates paid their filing fees. The reporter shouldn't just choose who to include and who to leave out. That is not the reporter's call. Every person in this race is a legitimate candidate because he or she registered as a candidate and paid the fees.
