I applaud the city of Prosser for allowing a pot store to open and allowing democracy to rule the day. Unfortunately, we can't say the same thing for the Tri-Cities.
These "moratoriums'' voted for by the city councils can be ended immediately by a simple city ordinance passed by the these same members. Every day that they choose not to act looks more and more like politics than anything else.
We clearly have the rules and regulations in place (although tedious) and a precedent set by the good folks in Colorado on how to operate these pot stores so delaying because of confusion is no longer a valid excuse.
The Pasco council members who can stop perpetuating illegal sales and allow tax dollars to help our state are as follows: Matt Watkins, Al Yenney, Mike Garrison, Bob Hoffman, Saul Martinez, Tom Larson and Rebecca Francik. Francik was the only member to agree with the people of Washington and vote down the moratorium. These are elected officials who need to be held accountable for how they choose to act or not act with the will of the people.
Never miss a local story.
