My family and I are so grateful and thankful to the family, especially the woman, who encountered our lost little autistic grandson after the fireworks at Gesa Stadium on July 4.
Our family became distracted for seconds, and our little 6-year-old wandered off and followed another family out of the park. We all went into panic drive and spread out yelling his name. Our grandson evidently tried to get in a car and when he realized it wasn't his family, he tried to run. A wonderful woman realized there was something wrong and held tight to him until we were able to coordinate with the police and find him.
In all the confusion and panic, we failed to get her name. We want to thank her for being the guardian angel who protected our little Reilly and kept him safe until we could find him. She has our eternal gratitude for her act of love and help.
We also want to thank all the people we encountered in the parking lot who offered support. We are so thankful for all the love and concern. So many friends and strangers gave of their time so willingly.
Never miss a local story.
