I read the May 2 opinion page, and I am amazed that people have such a difficult time with marijuana. Do they not realize that it is safer than alcohol? If we are worried about just our brains, then ban both!
The damage that alcohol does to the rest of the body is well documented, but I hear no one saying, "Oh! I live in a smart city that bans alcohol."
The people of the state of Washington have voted and they say yes to marijuana. Why are the cities not complying? The benefits of marijuana are many. What are the benefits of alcohol? We should also add tobacco into the mix. It has drugs that are harmful to the brain and the body. Should we ban that as well?
