The Amon Creek Natural Preserve has already been permanently scarred by the city with the installation of a storm water retention pond and a trunk sewer line. At the recent planning commission meeting, there was talk that a water line might be routed across the preserve. Not to mention Richland's long-standing plans for the Rachel Road extension across the heart of the preserve. It appears to me that the city is doing everything but preserving this natural open space that the city's residents were instrumental in getting set aside. This unique parcel of natural open space deserves to truly be preserved. It appears to be up to us citizens to educate the city as to what that means.
