Does anyone else find it ironic that the No. 1 six-month objective of the WAmend.org -- the group that wants to "get big money out of politics" -- is to raise money?
Albeit, $75,000 isn't much in political terms, but it is still big money to some of us. I know it is needed to cover expenses of the campaign, but why not limit the amount an individual can give? If WAmend wants to get big money out, start by setting an example; limit donations.
People who support this initiative should give their money to it. I find it ironic that it was the No. 1 objective because that is the first thing an entrepreneur with dreams of creating a big company does; raise money. It is what unions do; raise money through dues, to spend on political campaigns.
And why on the website supporting this is there no mention of union money influence on elections? Why are there a number of unions under "Endorsing Organizations" since on the face value of the proposed amendment, they would lose their political clout?
Never miss a local story.
I agree, let's get all big money out, not just the ones you don't like.
