Growing up in Richland as a little boy, I never once thought about going to Hanford. From the start, I wanted to go to Richland and help carry on the great tradition of being a Bomber. I wanted to help Richland win in baseball and play under the lights on Fridays.
I have been able to do both of these great things. When my teammates and I run out of the locker room on Friday nights, we all look to the stands to see our family and the fans who came out to support us. No matter what, there was always one fan there, the big yellow "R" laying in the hillside of Fran Rish. If we are winning by 50 or lose by 50, the "R" was always there supporting us. Now that the "R" has been stolen from us for no reason. No matter what they put in to replace the old "R," it will never carry the tradition and spirit that the old "R" had.
