Tri-Cities, we are an incredible community! In a time when people can focus on the negative, we experienced a tremendous outpouring of compassion and caring for others from our beloved community. We (Domestic Violence Services of Benton and Franklin Counties) announced a need for sponsoring families in the holiday season. We had a heartwarming response in providing food for Thanksgiving and food, gifts and other items for Christmas.
Those who gave probably have no idea how incredible of an impact they had on these families. In our emergency shelter, we heard repeated examples of feeling cared for. Some of the comments were:
w "Thank you so much for thinking of us with all the gifts and warm food. It has renewed my faith in people who are giving without expecting something in return."
w "I thank you from the bottom of my heart. You made our day by donating and giving. I would hope to pay it forward someday."
w "It was hard because I am so independent, and it is hard to ask for help. So many people being so generous to people they don't even know makes me look at people differently."
Thank you to our community for making a difference.
