The "reality TV" celebrity did not lose any freedoms after expressing his racist and anti-gay beliefs. His employers initially responded reasonably to his repugnant views by suspending his involvement with the show.
The validity of opinions and beliefs matter. Anti-LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) beliefs are based on scripture interpretation and church tradition. It is reasonable to expect deities to protest humanity's injustices and bigotries through their followers rather than promote them, yet the opposite is true. People of faith fight social progress and continually resist the conclusions of reasoned science.
For example, in 1978, Mormon leaders received the "surprise" revelation of racial equality. They blame secular influences for their formerly racist doctrine despite the fact that secularism has been increasingly promoting racial equality since the Civil War -- when Mormonism was still a new religion.
Physiological and psychological research confirms that gender identity and sexual orientation begins forming before birth, LGBT people are as stable as heterosexuals and raise children just as competently. Like sexist and racist beliefs, anti-LGBT beliefs have been invalidated.
Whether you are a "reality TV" celebrity or a local florist, anti-LGBT views are not mere differences of opinion, they are disproved beliefs unfit for serious consideration.
