We at the American Legion in Pasco want to thank everyone for helping out our local veterans during the holidays.
To start off, the Tri-City Herald for helping to get the word out about our post events. Ed Daily, of KORD radio, for organizing two fundraisers that brought in more than 700 pounds of groceries and food. Benton/Franklin Posse for turkeys; Operation Warm Up for all the blankets, hats, gloves and toys and to the folks who donated well over $3,000 in cash to help with expenses for the Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners to feed local veterans and their families.
Thank you to the American Legion Post family members who donated to the Santa's Angel Tree, which provided toys for the Christmas baskets. We were able to provide 31 families with Christmas baskets filled with food and toys for the children.
We served approximately 150 people for the Thanksgiving and dinner and approximately 175 people for the Christmas dinner.
The holidays are a time for giving, and the Tri-Cities answered the call with an amazing contribution to the veterans and their families. To witness this kind generosity, humbles our very souls. Thank you, Tri-Cities, and have a happy new year.
