I volunteer at the Richland Food Bank and went in Friday to pick up donations at Hanford High School.
The food bank warehouse is based on standard boxes so donations can be stacked safely. When we got to Hanford High, we found a huge pile of donations in all shapes and sizes.
We had brought lots of our standard boxes so the kids jumped right in, repacked the donations and loaded all three tons into our trucks for us. What made me feel really warm inside was that all we had to do is explain what we needed one time and it was done right the first time, cheerfully -- no complaining.
Don't let anyone tell you that our country doesn't still produce some really great young people!
Never miss a local story.
