Richland would be poorer without The Market at the Parkway.
The Market is known worldwide as a diverse, upscale farmers market with fair prices and welcoming vendors. Thousands of people come to shop -- from everywhere. As a vendor, I have seen people eating in the restaurants, buying items from the various stores, etc.
Besides bringing customers to the merchants, The Market at the Parkway has paid for a bit of whimsy in the area with salmon swimming on a fence, the statue of Bodie sitting vigilantly in bronze, and a tree sculpture now at home in the traffic circle; all because of donations from The Market at the Parkway.
Visitors see there is more here than grapes, dust and nuclear waste. They see The Market at the Parkway as a reason to come to Richland.
The Market creates a nostalgic, old-fashioned atmosphere, where friends reunite and people relax as they shop for produce, fresh bread and handmade crafts of all kinds. Visitors feel at ease and bring their dogs, cats, birds and even R2D2. They listen to talented musicians while children and couples dance in the street.
Keep The Market at the Parkway.
