Letter: Oust KID incumbents at Dec. 10 election
I'm grateful to voters in Kennewick who supported my election to the city council. I will work hard to ensure that decisions are for the good of the community as a whole, and I will be watchful for accountability and openness in government.
But voters have one more duty, the Dec. 10 Kennewick Irrigation District election. There are 22,000 of you in the KID in Kennewick and Richland who have the right and responsibility to select two KID board members. Sadly, only 135 of you voted in 2012. That was less than 100th of 1 percent.
Don't let it happen again this year. KID does not make it easy. You must vote in person at KID offices unless you opt to go through an arduous process for an absentee ballot. There will be no reminder from KID or a voter's pamphlet.
You are on your own here, and KID incumbents would be happy if you didn't vote. Remember, voters with the most land have the most votes, and even dry land farmers can vote.
Get rid of the self-serving dynasty at KID. Elect challengers Jim Wade and Dean Dennis.
JOHN TRUMBO, Kennewick
