This message is regarding a black kitten that was tossed out of a car recently at Amon Basin on the east side of Leslie Road: Pets are not garbage! If you are unable to care for your pet, then do the responsible thing and find someone who can, or take it to a local animal shelter so that it can be adopted. Do not throw it out of your car and drive away.
Had I not seen this happen, and gone back to rescue the kitten, it surely would have died that night, either due to the cold weather or the healthy population of coyotes in the area. When I found the kitten in the brush, it was standing guard over the body of another kitten who was not so lucky. Perhaps that was also another former pet.
To the rest of the community: Midnight is an adorable, loving kitten, although he (or she?) is very malnourished. His new, and hopefully temporary home, will be at the Tri-Cities Animal Shelter in Pasco. If you have room in your home for a very affectionate kitten, please think about adopting Midnight. He officially has eight lives remaining!
