The Affordable Care Act is based on a good idea: People need access to medical care that doesn't bankrupt them, and our country needs a healthy work force.
The problem with the ACA is it is a tax. Our country is in debt, and if the ACA had been presented as a tax, it would not have passed. I didn't think it would be constitutional because it is a socialist solution.
Private management keeps the government out of our independent health care decisions and avoids any kind of national burden on the federal system if the ACA turns out to be too expensive or difficult to administer.
I think the solution is to regulate the medical and insurance industries. People are not cars. Medical facilities should have to keep costs within a standard range, and insurance companies should have to insure people equally. There is something immoral about selectively insuring human beings. The ACA is mandating what seems to be a commonsense treatment of people by insurers.
Never miss a local story.
Repeal the ACA and transfer those energies to regulating the insurance and medical industries. Obamacare is a hybrid of socialism/democracy and will weaken our nation's commitment to democracy, capitalism and individual responsibility.
