In just a few months we will elect a state senator from the 8th Legislative District. In his or her first term, the successful candidate will confront a single issue that surpasses all others in long-term impact. That issue is whether this state will join other states in calling for a convention to propose amendments to the United States Constitution as provided in Article V of that document. When asked in the primary campaign if they would support such a convention, neither candidate responded. Perhaps they would like to respond here in the Tri-City Herald letters to the editor.
For those that are unaware of the issue I suggest a very interesting and educational read. It is titled The Liberty Amendments, Restoring the American Republic by Mark R. Levin. It should be available in local libraries as well as most bookstores.
