The recent article, "Man accused of moving to Kennewick to exploit girl," once again opens up the opportunity for Benton County Prosecuting Attorney Andy Miller to raise the low-level bar of accountability sex offenders are currently being held at within Benton County and throughout the state.
How does the prosecuting attorney for Benton County accomplish this? Take this predator who found it necessary to expend the resources to travel clear across the country to target one of our local teenagers all the way to trial, in lieu of allowing the defendant to plea bargain his way out of a prison sentence.
In fact, this is an extraordinary case that may hold mitigating circumstances that Miller could easily use (as a matter of law) to justify asking for an exceptional sentence.
Sex offenses are running rampant within Washington. The time for change is at hand, one forestalled sex offender at a time.
