It appears that people are nearly evenly divided over the yes/no aquatic center question. If we can pay an additional tax for pools, what about a Kennewick airport? Oops, I forgot. There's profit in the airport somewhere.
Why don't we collect the tax, keep the airport and put the aquatic center off to one side? Win-win. We get to keep an airport that will eventually become crucial to our community as the others become over capacity, plus providing an emergency strip for low-lying fog emergencies.
With the aquatic center on the edge of the airport, many would fly there directly for alleged "events." After all, if this new tax is permanent, we should try to kill two birds with the same rock. It would also bring events adjacent to this wonderful "center" that, for now, is called Toyota. After next year, whose $2 million will buy the new name for this campus?
