I would like to publicly thank Rochelle Trevino, who is a caregiver at the Peace Of Mind Adult Family Home that I operate in Kennewick. Recently, one of the residents began choking while eating dinner. Because of Rochelle's quick thinking, she immediately performed the Heimlich maneuver on the resident, which saved her life. Even though it took five thrusts to expel the food, Rochelle was persistent, remained calm and followed through on earlier training she received from her CPR class.
I encourage everyone to get CPR training. You never know when you might need it to save a family member's, friend's or stranger's life.
I would also like to thank all of those who have chosen the role of being a caregiver. It is not an easy profession to be in at times. The desire to serve others supercedes the financial gain. I truly appreciate my caregivers -- Bianca, Rochelle, Stacey and Michelle. My home would not be the great home it is without them.
