I had the privilege of being a judge for senior presentations at Legacy High School in Kennewick. One of those was delivered by Rebeccca Alvarez, one of 27 graduates at Legacy this year. Her message on human trafficking was beyond impressive, it was inspirational.
She related how she, family and friends were able to get the traveling Sold exhibit to their Bethel Church in Richland. More than 300 people, mostly teens, visited the display and gained knowledge and ideas for action to end this travesty.
Additionally, Rebecca interviewed local law enforcement and discovered the awful truth that the average age of local trafficking victims is 11. I congratulate Rebecca for pursuing a meaningful project and the small high school for encouraging her to graduate and pursue addional education.
She will be a valuable resource for our community.
Never miss a local story.
