Today is June 2, 2013. I say that because it may be an important date.
I read an editorial from the Herald staff complaining about the recent attacks on the freedom of the press. I say welcome to the club.
Attacks on citizen rights:
-- Patriot Act (now with a multibillion-dollars facility to store data collected on American citizens).
Never miss a local story.
-- Obamacare that forces organizations to go against their religious beliefs.
-- Freedom of speech violations that include placing a man in prison for a video about Muslims that did not incite the violence in Benghazi.
-- Attempts at gun control to restrict gun ownership based on taking rights from law abiding citizens because of a deluded person.
There are more that people complain about, but the press stands side-by-side with the government.
Maybe now that the press has been attacked, they will start doing their job. They are supposed to be the advocate of citizens. They should be the mouthpiece of the citizens, not the propaganda agent of the government.
Stand up for us, too. All of our rights are in danger. It doesn't matter whose rights are being taken away. It can only lead to disaster for all.
