Now we finally know at least one component of what President Obama meant during the famous hot mic incident in March of 2012 when he told outgoing Russian President Medvedev he would have "more flexibility after the election." Now we learn that our president and commander in chief of all U.S. Military forces is giving $700 million of U.S. taxpayer dollars to buy Russian helicopters for the Afghan Air Force.
Why spend $700 million on Russian arms for the Afghans, at the same time our own military is being gutted? Why not supply U.S.-made copters?
It seems most ironic that 17 U.S. Air Force squadrons have been grounded by the Administration due to $591 million in budget cuts, yet we magically have $700 million to spend on Russian copters for the Afghans, with whom the USA has neither treaty with nor obligation to help defend.
When will the insanity end? Not till Nov. of 2016? Can we afford to wait that long? Details from the Russian Press at link below.
