David Feller's recent letter contained a couple of misunderstandings and/or omissions. He wasn't aware of any attempts to coerce or force people to participate in a same-sex wedding. False! The owner of Arlene's Flowers didn't refuse to sell her gay customer flowers; she'd been selling him flowers for 25 years, knowing he was gay. She refused to arrange the flowers for the "wedding" -- That is "participating" and that is what she refused to do.
I am unaware of any letters equating the owner of Arlene's Flowers to Martin Luther King Jr., Mahatma Gandhi or Rosa Parks. She made a business decision, based on her Christian beliefs -- period! There was no hatred shown toward her customer of 25 years, and she would probably still sell him flowers for any occasion but will not use her talents to arrange flowers for a gay wedding.
But, it seems Feller wants us to sacrifice our right of conscience for political correctness. Sorry; that's not going to happen. If it does, this nation becomes no better than Iran.
But state Attorney General Bob Ferguson is more than willing to spend our tax dollars, as the preceding attorney general Rob McKenna did, to destroy religious liberty in Washington state! Political parties stink!
Never miss a local story.
