I found the recent "Adam & Eve" depiction on the Herald's opinion pages amusing and troubling.
The lady complains about all she does, including the housecleaning and the parenting, then asks for someone to remind her again, "Why do I need him?"
The answer, my dear, is twofold. If you want the things that your career gives you, then you must perform those duties. If you have a husband who does not perform his career duties and help with those other chores, that is a problem. Each must do his or her share and both must work it out by mutual agreement.
The last part of the question is really quite simple. You without him, and he without you, there would be no parenting duties. He and she equals us. Think about it!
