Absolutely. Reasonable guidelines can be created that allow Meals on Wheels recipients to maintain a respectful, honoring time to give thanks for the meal. Part of the Meals on Wheels program is to encourage a sense of community along with the sharing of sustenance. Giving thanks corporately allows for reflection and expression of gratitude within a faith-based organization. Here are some suggested guidelines:
1. Mealtime prayers at MOWAA sites are a time for reflection and expression of gratitude.
2. Participation is completely voluntary.
3. Brevity is appreciated, along with an honoring message that is inclusive of all faiths.
Never miss a local story.
4. Statements which are political in nature or an attempt to persuade others to adopt an ideology are not appropriate and are incompatible with the mission of MOWAA.
