We take little things for granted in life. What about those who shine but aren't celebrities? Ants work as hard, but nobody thanks them for what they do.
People spend their whole lives perfecting something and achieving their dreams. Sport highlights aren't everything. Art is important too.
With the budget cuts in schools, art might be first to go. Nobody cares about these programs as much as football. At Kamiakin High School, you hear how teams go to state. Rarely do we hear about clubs for nonathletic activities. There are things people do that they get bullied for, so they quit participating in fear of "not being cool."
This causes lots of kids to be depressed and not do the things that make them happy. What would happen if we took the few things kids have to run to where they just can be themselves?
For me, that was dance. When everything was going downhill, things changed and my teammates hated me. No longer was I part of the "family."
There are others who need those little things and don't want to be overlooked. I learned that if there is passion, don't give it up, and don't take it away, or it might take a life.
