As a Chief Joseph Middle School student, I was saddened to read others' negative attitudes toward our school in the recent article, "Boundary talk riles parents."
I have attended Chief Jo since I was in sixth grade, and my third and final year is quickly coming to an end. Some remember middle school as the worst years of their life, but for me they have been some of the best.
Our teachers are caring and make sure each student receives the most out of his or her education. Many different classes are offered so that students at every learning level can challenge themselves. A multitude of afterschool activities are offered, like Drama Club, Robotics Club, National Junior Honor Society, and Fuel Up to Play 60.
We also have an associated student body and a leadership class, which run pep assemblies and dances. To top it off, Chief Joseph has an excellent music department. Our choirs and bands have won numerous awards and gotten the opportunity to travel to places such as Washington, D.C., to perform.
Students are not "fleeing" from our school. They are running to it. And I, like every student and staff member, would personally recommend going there.
